Rhonda A, Quilter

About the Artist
Rhonda A is a member of the Quilted Blessings Ministry at Loomis UCC. She started sewing at the age of nine with a 4-H club while growing up on a farm. Aprons and pillowcases soon gave way to making almost all of her own clothing through high school and college. She sewed clothes for her sisters and sons, as well. Sewing became a great stress reliever for her after working long shifts as a nurse. She began quilting 30 years ago when she enrolled in her first quilting class and was hooked. She loves using multiple colors and patterns and fabrics of her own choices and arranging in beautiful designs. Nearly all of Rhonda's family and friends have quilts that she has sewn. Rhonda also makes quilts on consignment. After retiring from her nursing career in 2012, Rhonda discovered longarm quilting which is a wonderful way to stitch together quilt tops, batting and backing. She practiced using the longarm on quilts for charity and soon expanded that to quilts for friends and customers alike. Rhonda uses a combination of hand guided and computerized stitching techniques. She loves to play with fabric and thread because it is "sew" much fun!
