Welcome

What to Expect

Relax

At Loomis Basin UCC, you will find worship service designed to praise God and enrich faith. We wish to worship, not to intimidate; to revere and honor God, not to be aloof; to clarify, not complicate.

Time

Worship starts promptly at 10:00 am; you may want to arrive 10 minutes early to get settled. Services typically last about an hour.

Parking

We have a large parking lot with plenty of parking. If by chance there is no parking on the black top, please feel free to park on the gravel.

Enter

Enter through the doors in the covered breezeway. Greeters will meet you and help you find a seat, if needed.

Dress

Be comfortable! Our congregants wear a wide variety of clothing from very informal (shorts, t-shirts, sandals) to a little more dressy. Most of us tend toward the shorts and t-shirt end of the fashion spectrum!

Kids

We have a staffed nursery most Sundays. We also have a “children’s time” during the worship service. Kids start out in worship service with their parents, and then have the option to leave with a teacher about 15-20 minutes into the service. (Learn more about our youth programs) Kids are also welcome to stay in worship with their families if they prefer. All of our teachers and nursery staff have had background checks.

Music

Our music format varies each Sunday: from lively traditional hymns, to contemporary secular and praise songs, to our outstanding choir, to a children’s bell choir, and an annual jazz worship service. We often have guests musicians or special music as well.

offering

Our members give offerings to God as an expression of our thanks and praise for God’s amazing love. Visitors, please know that you are our guests. We are happy you came to worship with us and get to know us, so when the offering plate is passed, you are not expected to give an offering. It’s your choice.

communion

We serve communion on the first Sunday of every month. Everyone is welcome at God’s table. We provide grape juice as well as an assortment of bread (including gluten-free). Feel free to participate in communion if you wish—all are welcome!

After worship

We provide coffee and snacks after each service. We hope you will stay so we can get to know you better and share more about our church and programs.

Blue cards

We encourage all of our guests to fill out a blue card, located in the back pocket of the chairs in the sanctuary. After you fill out a blue card, please place it in the offertory plate. This will help us connect with you if you are interested in learning more about our church. Pastor Casey will typically contact you within a few days of receiving a blue card.

Questions

If you have questions, please feel free to approach a greeter or one of our members. If you’d like to learn more about our church or beliefs, feel free to speak with Pastor Casey after service. You will also find a summary of our mission and beliefs in the back pocket of the chairs in the sanctuary.
